COMMISSIONERS MINUTES                                January 21, 2010


A special session was held on the above date at 6:00 p.m. at the Mountain Home Public Library, 790 North 10th East, Mountain Home, Idaho. The special session was to meet with the Mountain Home City Council to discuss City/County related issues.

Present at the meeting were Elmore County Commissioners Arlie Shaw, Larry Rose and Chairperson Connie Cruser. Also present was City Councilmen Rich Urquidi and Russ Anderson. Guests included Calvin Ireland from the Highway and Irrigation District and Alan Christy, Elmore County Growth and Development Director.

The Area of Impact was discussed at length and it was decided that City Planner Bonnie Harper and Alan Christy, Elmore County Growth & Development Director would work on the impact area and present their suggestions to the City and County.

The support efforts to bring the F-35 airplanes to Mountain Home Air Force Base were discussed.

Water resources in Elmore County were discussed including the forecast for irrigation this year.

Commissioner Cruser mentioned that the Substance Abuse Committee from the Center for Community Health is working on a plan to have a “Spring Cleaning” day this spring to collect all old or discontinued medications (human or animal). These medications would be disposed of properly so as not to contaminate the environment. The Department of Environmental Quality has also suggested collection of Mercury to keep that out of the landfills.

The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
