COMMISSIONERS MINUTES                                OCTOBER 23, 2008


A special session was held on the above date at the Mountain Home Public Library, 790 North 10th East, Mountain Home, Idaho. The special session was to meet with the City Council to discuss City/County related issues.

Present at the meeting were Chairman Arlie Shaw and Commissioner Connie Cruser. Also present was City of Mountain Home Mayor Tom Rist, City Councilmen Geoff Schroeder, Rich Urquidi, and Russ Anderson along with City Planner Bonnie L. Harper. Guests included Tim Corder, Doug King and Mike Pope.

The City Comprehensive Plan along with street and highways were discussed. Mayor Tom Rist reported that the Idaho Department of Transportation had revised their timetable on the stop light at the Bruneau Highway intersection and installation was now planned for spring of 2009. Tim Corder was asked to check and see if he could find out if this was a set time. He was also asked to keep the group informed on the status of the EMS bill that will be brought up in the upcoming legislation session.

There was some discussion on how the Sheriff was handling Law Enforcement in the Pine-Featherville area, and how hard it has been to hire qualified help for that area.

Mike Pope gave a presentation on the Optimist Park Rodeo Grounds and the need for many upgrades that need to be done as the area has seen a huge increase in use since they now have the backing, name, and reputation of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys behind them. With the Daniel Dopps Memorial Rodeo, this rodeo and venue has been considered for small rodeo of the year in the Wilderness Circuit in just 3 years of operation. He presented a 5 year plan to all in attendance.

The E-911 addressing was discussed with Mayor Rist commenting that this issue would be added to the City meeting agenda.

The next City/County meeting will be held Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mountain Home Public Library and all citizens are encouraged to attend.
