COMMISSIONERS MINUTES                                May 10, 2007

The Elmore County Commissioner’s met for a public hearing on the above date at 7:00 p.m. in the Commissioner’s room, basement of the Elmore County Courthouse, 150 South 4th East, Mountain Home, Idaho.

Present at the meeting were Chairman Larry Rose, Commissioners Connie Cruser and Arlie Shaw. Also present was the Clerk, Marsa Grimmett.

The purpose of the public hearing was to hear testimony on forming an interim emergency abatement district to help fight the mosquito problem and other pests.

Chairman Rose opened the meeting encouraging all that were present to listen to Mir Seyedbagheri’s presentation and ask any questions that they may have. He also explained why the Commissioners were having the public hearing. Declaring an emergency interim Abatement District would help us fight mosquito’s this year and the following year, then the issue would be put on the 2008 ballot for a vote to form a permanent abatement district.

Mir Seyedbagheri, Extension Office Agent, gave a presentation explaining the life cycle of the mosquito, where they live and breed, and what steps can be taken to eradicate them. Mr. Seyedbagheri explained the first plan of attack would be in the larvae stage. Then spraying the mosquitoes would be next.

Chairman Rose stated that Clark Aviation appeared last Monday at the regular Commissioners meeting to make a presentation and they have very sophisticated equipment for spraying mosquitoes.

Russell Duke from Central District Health was present to express his support in the interim abatement district.

A short discussion followed Mir’s presentation and all agreed that the Commissioners should enact an interim emergency abatement district.
