COMMISSIONERS MINUTES JUNE 14, 2005
The Elmore County Commissioners met in special session on the above date in the Commissioner’s Room, basement of the Elmore County Courthouse, 150 South 4th East, Mountain Home, Idaho.
Present at the meeting were Chairman Larry Rose, Commissioners Mary Egusquiza and Connie Cruser. Also present was Clerk Gail Best. The purpose of the special session was to conduct interviews for the office of Elmore County Prosecuting Attorney.
The candidates were interviewed in the order selected by the Elmore County Central Republican Committee. The first candidate was Mark V. Withers, 2358 Buckley Drive, Mountain Home. Mr. Withers made an opening statement and then answered questions posed to him by the Board.
The second candidate was Bryan F. Taylor, 1110 N. Caucus Way, Meridian, Idaho. Mr. Taylor made an opening statement and then answered questions posed to him by the Board.
The third candidate was Kristina Schindele, 5607 S. Firethorn, Boise, Idaho. Ms. Schindele made an opening statement and then answered questions posed to her by the Board.
All three candidates were then asked to come to the table and questions were asked by the audience assembled. Each candidate answered each question asked on a rotation basis.
The candidates were told they would be notified by Clerk Best in the morning of who was selected by the Board. The candidates departed as did most of the audience.
Remaining in the room were the three Commissioners, Clerk, Phillip Miller, Michael Crawford, Teri Kaptein, Cindy Berry and Tracey Mangrum. There was discussion among the members of the Board about their thoughts on the three candidates. Each Board member ruled out Candidate One - Mark Withers. There was further discussion. It was agreed that both the candidates that remained in consideration were impressive. The discussion was centered on comparing the experience of the two candidates and which was more suitable for the needs of Elmore County.
Motion by Egusquiza, second by Rose, to appoint Kristina Schindele to the position of Elmore County Prosecutor.
