COMMISSIONERS MINUTES                                                          FEBRUARY 27, 2004


The Elmore County Commissioners met in special session on the above date in the Commissioner’s Room, basement of the Elmore County Courthouse, 150 South 4th East, Mountain Home, Idaho.

Present at the meeting was Chairperson Mary Egusquiza-Stanek and Commissioners Larry Rose and Calvin Ireland. Also present was Clerk Gail Best, Sheriff Rick Layher, Chief Deputy Sheriff Nick Schilz, Prosecutor Aaron Bazzoli, Assessor Jim Haydon, Judy Devol, Merrilee Hiler, and Decker Sanders. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss placing a jail bond issue on the November ballot.

There was discussion about the library bond being placed on the ballot in May and what the effects of that would be on the jail bond. Various methods of surveying the public to see what their feelings are were discussed. How many members should be on the committee was discussed. The preliminary work done by the most recent jail committee was discussed.

The Sheriff will review the last plan with the architect. Decker Sanders will prepare a draft press release to announce the County’s intentions to place the issue on the ballot. The next meeting of the committee will be March 16, 2004 at 4:00 p.m.
